Week Ending Friday 11th December
Christmas has officially arrived. We have had two wonderful concerts in which over a quarter of our children performed brilliantly in front of many parents and guests. The adjudicator returned his findings about the changes to the schools and declared that it would all go ahead as the County plans. Therefore we will still close as a middle school in July 2012. It was the expected response, unfortunately.....
Week Ending Friday 4th December
Fast approaching the end of term. Christmas rehearsals are going well in preparation for next weeks concerts. I am writing this slightly early as I may not have time over the weekend (I become officially old tomorrow!).
Week Ending Friday 27th November
Rather a mad week this week. I must thank everyone who turned out for the Friends Meeting on Tuesday. It was great to see some new faces . One of the highlights of my week has been showing parents round from other schools who want to send their children to BMS. It is so nice to hear about how they have found out about us from friends and want to see for themselves. Another great result for the girls football. Into the last 32 of the national cup! We had a visit in assembly from John and Maurice from the Beccles Society who presented the prize for the Year 5 sketch book from Activities Week. Well done to Amie for her hard work. The Society also presented a large format atlas to the school library which was gratefully received.

Personally I had a mad week which I suppose should have been expected in a week containing Friday the 13th. I went to London on Tuesday for a training course and realised why I love living and working in Suffolk! Everything and everyone travels at such a fast pace, no-one seems to get a chance to think!
Today was brilliant. All the children had a great day dressing up to raise money for Children in Need. We then put on a staff Talent Show for the children and had some excellent performances which gave everyone a good laugh (not always in the right places!). In total we raised £220 which was purely through donations.
Week Ending Friday 13th November
Only a short week but still a very busy one. A group of children had a great time with the author, Karen McCombie, on Thursday at Bungay Middle and she gave loads of advice for our future writers. Our girls got through to the next round of the National Football Competition (top 64 in the country!) and our Year Eight took part in Green Day. This was a great experience and allowed the children to look at ways to make us all more Earth friendly.
Week Ending Friday 6th November
Straight back into things after half term.
Week Ending Friday 30th October
Half term week. I hope that you all had a great time and got the chance to spend some time with your families. School has still been busy with lots of people coming and going. I had my faith in human kindness restored this week when a company from Lancashire sent us a free chicken house. I had sent some begging emails around and this company, Henhouse World, responded immediately. It is a great little house and we will get our hens into it after half term.
Week Ending Friday 23rd October
Activities Week! Lots of children and staff, in school, out of school, in the rain, in the sun, in the mud, at the zoo, playing golf, dancing, canoeing, climbing............................... wow!!
Week Ending Friday 16th October
Loads going on this week. Artists, poets and many other visitors. The sports teams have had a great week and we are through to a number of different stages in competitions; some local and some national.
Week Ending Friday 9th October
I've had a much better week this week! I cancelled most of my meetings and tried to spend as much time as possible with the children.
Week Ending Friday 2nd October
I can't really comment on this week as I have spent most of it away from school and at meetings! I hate weeks like this and can't wait to get back to school with the children (after all that's why I do this job!!!).
Week Ending Friday 25th September
Already the weeks are filling up with events, meetings, visitors and fixtures and everyone is as busy as ever. The girls had a great result on Thursday night in the National Football competition. They travelled to Norwich to face Notre Dame in the first round of the competition and came away as 3-1 winners! It was a great performance and by reaching the next round puts them in the top 200 teams in the country. The chickens have started laying again after a lengthy summer break and Mrs Douglas has got some fish!
Week Ending Friday 18th September
This week has been all about courage and having the courage to do the right thing. Both whole school assemblies have had courage as a focus. On Thursday Lauren had lots of courage when Duncan pierced a plastic bag full of water above her head! A big well done to the year 8 boys football team who had a great win over Worlingham. Mr White isn't in school at the moment as he is on paternity leave and getting used to being a dad! Congratulations from all of us!
The papers have been full of the news that due to the economic downturn and reduced public funding, the schools reorganisation may be delayed. We will just have to wait and see.......
Week Ending Friday 11th September
The first full week of school! Everyone seems to be getting into the routines and we have had a really settled week. Clubs assembly was interesting on Tuesday as Mr Adcock was not able to run it. So I stepped in. We had loads of children who desperately wanted to do tiddly winks, cheese throwing and underwater basket weaving! They looked really disappointed when I said that I was only joking. Already the lost property is piling up with all the "stolen" Year 5 PE socks. I do wish they would check before reporting the "theft"! I am getting into the swing of walking up and down Ellough Road in my new role as headteacher of both schools. I was terrified when Year 1 came into assembly but I've calmed down now and I think I'll get used to them. Unfortunately we are still unable to use the hard courts but we have had contractors in so work should start soon. It's a good job that the weather has been good and we can still use the field. Many of us were saddened this week to hear of the death of an ex-pupil. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.
